 To sit in front of the white silk and envision a dramatic or funny cowgirl incident is such a tremendous challenge. I have been so taken with the process of silk painting. The way the paints mix as you apply it is mesmerizing, very much like watching the dancing shapes in a campfire. The ideas are endless, everyday more and more just appear like magic. This is undoubtedly the most fun I’ve had painting. Prints, cards, cups, T-shirts are now available! I’m currently working on silk illustrations for a book about an adventurous cat, written by Lynn Courville. There are just no limits to the possibilities silk painting opens the doors to. I’ve always liked to use vibrant colors, I think that is why I originally chose birds to paint. All the bright yellows, blues, reds then combine that with the flower colors very exciting. Of course I will still be doing the realistic birds, wildlife and horses that I’ve always created. They will always hold a special place in my heart.
